Green Bihar campaign launched





Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar launched Green Bihar campaign (Harit Bihar Abhiyan) in Patna on September 3, 2011. Under the programme Janata Dal (United) will make 50 lakh members and each member will have to plant one sapling in the next two years to make Bihar green. Kumar also flagged off Green Bihar van which will cover all the districts of the state to make people aware about the green cover for environment. The Bihar Chief Minister also donated his one month salary (Rs99,500) for the purpose. He also appealed to the MLAs, MLCs and Ministers to donate their one month salary for the pious work.
Giving immediate response to the CM's call, Bihar Water Resources Department Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Industry and Disaster Management Minister Renu Kumari Kushwaha and Rural Development Minister Nitish Mishra donated their salaries by handing over a cheque of Rs Rs98,000 each for the fund. JD(U) state president Vashishta Narayan Singh was present on the occasion. Singh will lead the campaign in the districts.
