Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari review key highway projects, stress on quality and timely completion


 



Patna, October 1: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on October 1, 2026 reviewed the progress of various national highway and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) projects in the state.

The meeting, held at the ‘Sankalp’ auditorium at Lok Sevak Awas, focused on strengthening Bihar’s road and highway infrastructure, expediting construction and ensuring quality in ongoing projects.

Detailed discussions were held on several major projects, including the Patna-Purnea Greenfield Expressway, Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway, Muzaffarpur-Barauni four-laning project, Dumariya Ghat bridge, Darbhanga-Supaul highway, Khagaria-Purnea road, Muzaffarpur-Sonbarsa road, NH-22, NH-31 Anisabad-Didarganj section with a six-lane elevated road and service road, Danapur-Bihta corridor, Bihta-Koilwar upgrade, six-lane Greenfield Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata Highway, Amas-Darbhanga, Munger-Mirzachowki, Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama-Sahibganj corridor, Siwan-Mashrakh, Patna-Ara-Sasaram four-lane corridor, six-lane Ganga bridge and Patna Ring Road.

The meeting also reviewed the latest status of several other important projects.

The Chief Minister stressed the need to complete the projects within the stipulated timelines and ensure early resolution of problems affecting their implementation.

Directions were also issued to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) for converting NH-139, including the Aurangabad and Ambabai bypass sections, into a four-lane highway, as well as for four-laning the Bariyarpur-Gangta-Jamui section of NH-333.

Special emphasis was placed on maintaining the highest standards of quality in road construction. Gadkari made it clear that there would be no compromise on the quality of construction work. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is being used for effective monitoring of projects, the meeting was told.

JD(U) Legislators Donate One Month’s Salary to Bihar Chief Minister’s Relief Fund


 

Patna: In a gesture of support for families affected by the recent floods in Bihar, members of the Janata Dal (United) {JD)U)} legislative party handed over cheques equivalent to one month’s salary to Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in Patna on October 1, 2026.

The cheques were presented at ‘Sankalp’ Sabhagar at Lok Sevak Awas under the leadership of JD(U) national working president Sanjay Kumar Jha, Bihar Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Ramvachan Rai and Health Minister Nishant Kumar.

Science, Technology and Technical Education Minister Sheila Kumari, Minority Welfare Minister Mohammad Zama Khan, Bihar Legislative Assembly whips Sudhanshu Shekhar, Nachiketa, Vinay Chaudhary, and MLAs Radhacharan Sah, Sonam Rani, Rajesh Kumar alias Ishwar Mandal, Atirek Kumar, Indradev Singh, Hemnarayan Sah, Rajkumar Rai, Niranjan Kumar Mehta, Dular Chand Goswami, Bablu Kumar and Ramvilas Kamat also contributed one month’s salary to the relief fund.

A total cheque of Rs 17.19 lakh was handed over to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The Chief Minister thanked all the legislators for their contribution and said the amount would help people in need during disasters and difficult circumstances in the state.

Bihar Legislative Council chief whip Sanjay Kumar Singh alias Gandhiji was also present on the occasion.
