Demanding immediate steps to curb price rise, the four Left parties staged demonstrations across the country. Over 500 activists of Left parties including CPI-M leader and politburo member Brinda Karat and CPI secretary Atul Kumar Anjan were arrested in Patna on April 8, 2010 for blocking roads during their 'fill-the-jail' campaign against the price rise.
Karat, Anjan and CITU leader A K Singh led a procession which blocked the busy Dak Bungalow roundabout in Patna creating serious traffic problems.
They were arrested and taken to a camp jail at Gardanibagh from where they were released in the evening.
