Engineers Day celebrated in Patna

PATNA: Bihar Road Construction Minister Nand Kishore Yadav said intention of the government should be clear for the development of the state. "If the intention is not good, the development is not possible", he said while paying rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya on the latter's 157th birth anniversary at Abhiyanta Bhavan here on Friday.

The birth anniversary of Visvesvaraya also marked the 50th Engineers Day. Bihar Public Health Engineering Department Minister Vinod Narayan Jha and Urban Development Minister Maheshwar Hazari also addressed the function.

BSTA donates Rs 5 lakh to CM Relief Fund

PATNA: Bihar Secondary Teachers’ Association (BSTA) has donated Rs 5 lakh to Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. BSTA president and former MLC Kedar Nath Pandey and its secretary Shatrughan Prasad Singh met the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar at the latter’s office here on Friday and handed over a cheque of Rs 5 lakh to CM on behalf of the association members.

In response, Chief Minister thanked the BSTA for its initiative.

Meanwhile, BSTA president and secretary urged the members to contribute in the relief fund of the association generously so that the collected amount could be donated to CM Relief Fund as next installment.

22 schools take part in Kala Utsav

PATNA: Twenty-two schools from six districts took part in the divisional-level art festival organized under the aegis of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan at the Government Girls’ School, Bankipore, here on Friday.

Dance, drama, visual art and music competitions were held in the day-long function.

In the dance competition, Government Girls School, Maner, won the first prize and Government Girls Plus 2 School (Ara) got the second position. The third spot went to Government Girls School (Parwalpur, Nalanda).  

In the music competition, Antarjyoti Girls School (Patna) got the top slot, Plus 2 School (Hilsa, Nalanda) bagged the second position and Buxar School earned the third position. In the drama competition, Patna, Ara and Buxar schools got the first, second and third position respectively.

In the visual arts, Rohtas, Patna (Bapu Smarak School) and Nalanda schools stood first second and third respectively
