US ambassador Timothy J Roemer in Patna

US ambassador Timothy J Roemer, his wife Sally and a few officials of US Embassy were in Patna on February 4, 2010 on two-day visit to the state.
On the Day First, he visited the Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Public library and uploaded the recently published Album of Scientific instruments preserved at the library.
Director of Library Dr Imitiaz Ahmed said the ambassador saw the rare manuscripts that included a text of Holy Quran in the Kufic script written on deer skin, dated early 9th century and a copy of Persian Ghazals (lyrics) by the renowned poet, Hafiz Shiraz. The copy bears marginal notes in the writing of Mughal emperors -- Humayun and Jahangir.

Later, Timothy J Roemer met Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and assured him of the US government's support for development projects in the state, besides identifying possibilities for future engagements.
Roemer held discussions with the Chief Minister for almost an hour.
Praising the Bihar government, Roemer said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had initiated a number of measures for infrastructure development including in the field of health, education, dairy development, e-governance and NREGA.
He also hailed state government for achieving the growth rate of 11.03 per cent during the short span of four years.

Nitish Kumar appealed to the visiting envoy to persuade prospective investors in the US to make investments in infrastructure development, energy and food processing plants in Bihar.
