BIT-Patna students donate blood on I-Day





Students and Faculty of Birla Institute of Technology, Patna (BIT-Patna) celebrated the Independence Day remembering the martyrs of independence struggle and paid tributes to them by donating their blood at a blood donation camp organized at the institute in association with Patna Medical College and Hospital on Patna on August 15, 2010.

Such was the enthusiasm and zeal of students that only within two hours of registration about 200 students registered for donating blood. A total of 250 students donated blood.

The blood bank team from PMCH was dead on time and very efficiently answered numerous queries related to blood donation. The team was headed by Dr. Vinod Kumar.

Earlier in the day the camp was inaugurated by local MLA Nitin Naveen, who is also an alumnus of BIT-Mesra, the parent body of BIT-Patna. Director KK Shrivastava encouraged the students with his presence and promised to hold more such events in near future for the benefit of the society. Dr. SK Sinha, Ashish Ranjan and SS Yadav, faculty members were the first ones to volunteer for blood donation and lead the students with example.

The whole event was managed by student volunteers drawn from NSS and AID (Association for India’s development, Patna) under guidance of the faculty.
