The day-long Patna City bandh on June 13, 2009 turned violent as bandh supporters forced the closure of shops, blocked main roads, disrupted traffic movements and fought pitched battle with the police. The bandh was spontaneous to protest the killing of leading businessman Santosh Kumar Tekriwal, who was shot dead by some unidentified mobike-born criminals at Rajendra Nagar under the Kadamkuan police station on June 12, 2009. Tekriwal is the owner of Azad transport, which has its network throughout India. Tekriwal’s neice also sustained bullet injuries in the incident.
