Bihar Agriculture Minister Narendra Kumar Singh said the State Government had launched Rs 255 crore organic farming projects to counter the ill effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
Talking to reporters in Patna on January 13, 2011 Singh said experts and farmers had expressed their concern over slowing down of farm fertility due to the constant use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides and had requested the government to make measures to improve the fertility of farmland.
He said under the scheme, the Agriculture Department would provide a maximum subsidy of Rs 3,000 per unit for setting up 10 vermicompost units on their land.
