Mukhya Mantri Kanya Suraksha Yojana ( Chief Minister Girl Child Protection Scheme) completed its three successful years in Bihar. Women Development Corporation organised a function in Patna on February 12, 2011 to mark the occasion. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was the chief guest. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and Bihar Social Welfare Minister Parveen Amanullah attended the function. Under the scheme, on the birth of two baby girls in Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, a sum of Rs 2000 each is invested through Children Career Plan of UTI Mutual Fund. At the age of 18, the girl gets the maturity amount. The scheme has been launched in association with the UTI.
The Chief Minister also honoured district magistrates of Nalanda, Gaya and East Champaran and other officials for their efforts to implement the scheme.
