Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Surface Transport Minister CP Joshi jointly inaugurated a mega four-lane bridge across the river Kosi between Nirmali and Supaul at Bhaptiahi on February 8, 2012. The 1.87 kilometre-long mega bridge on NH-57 was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 431 crore and it will connect Mithilanchal to Kosi belt after a long gap of 78 years. The bridge was earlier damaged by devastating earthquake in the Mithilanchal region about eight decades ago.
