Patna, July 4, 2022: Patna High Court stayed the
administration's action against illegal construction in Nepali Nagar area of
Rajiv Nagar. A petition was filed in the court on behalf of the people of
Nepali Nagar. While hearing the plea, the court stated demolition of the houses
for the time being. The matter will be heard on July 6.
The High Court also sought reply from the MD of the housing board
and the state government till Wednesday. The Single Bench of Justice Sandeep
Kumar gave this order after hearing senior advocate Basant Kumar Choudhary on
the petition filed by Rajendra Kumar Singh and others.
Meanwhile, the administration backed by a strong police
force removed the encroachment on Monday. Illegally built houses were
demolished. The day saw Jan Adhikar
Party (JAP) supremo Pappu Yadav reaching the spot along with his supporters. The
JAP workers staged demonstration against the action of the police and
administration. The police asked them to leave, but they did not agree. Later,
police resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse the agitators.
Police personnel were camping in the disputed area falling
under Rajiv Nagar police station since morning. The dispute is related to the
illegal grabbing of 1024 acres of land. Now hundreds of houses have been built
on it, which were being demolished since yesterday. DM and SSP also reached the
spot.
Meanwhile, the administration claimed that encroachments were
completely removed from the land of Bihar State Housing Board in Rajiv Nagar.
About 50 acres of land has been taken over by the district administration.
During this, a total of 34 people have been arrested so far for creating ruckus.
Today 9 more people were arrested by the police while on Sunday 25 people were
arrested. So far a total of 4 FIRs have
been registered.
