Bihar CM Nitish Kumar asks people to boycott dowry seekers

Patna, April 14, 2017: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday called upon the people to boycott dowry seekers so that the evil could be rooted out of the society.

Addressing the 126th birth anniversary celebration function of Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar here, he urged the people to start social movement against child marriage and dowry as they have been doing against liquor ban and deaddiction across the state.

“Child marriage is the main reason of malnutrition”, he said.

He also stressed upon the need to do away with caste system.

He said Baba Saheb had given the slogans of “get educated, remain united and fight for the right cause”.

He said government had been working for the betterment of every caste. “We have given reservation to SC/ST candidates in judiciary. We had also given reservation in promotion but High Court decided it against us. We have moved Supreme Court against this order and now the government is waiting for SC decision”, he said.
