  1. Ashutosh Kumar is a great young writer who has reinvented the legend of ‘Dr. Faustus’ in his debut novel ‘The Great Return of Dr. Faustus’. The novel is full of adventures. When I read the novel I came to experience something new. The novel begins from the point where Marlow’s ‘Dr. Faustus’ ends. The main universal idea according to me is to show that good always wins over evil. In todays parlance this novel can be well thought-out as a great sequel of the ‘Faust Legend’.

I think that the greatness of Ashutosh lies in his ability to create his own characters and places. He makes the whole setting of the play shift from 16th century Europe to 21st century India, which I am sure is a result of his patriotism.

I wish him all the success and thank him for paying a good tribute to the holy river Ganges.
