RJD expresses concern over plight of weavers' community
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD expressed its concern over the plight of weavers' community. The party said the Bihar government had failed to bail out the regional handloom cooperative union building at Biharsharif which went under the hammer recently.
The building located in the Chief Minister's home district was auctioned for Rs 18 lakh to clear off accumulated loan and other payments totalling Rs 3.7 lakh, said RJD leader Shakeel Ahmed Khan at a press confernce in Patna on July 2, 2010.
About 50 lakh weavers of 11 districts have been rendered jobless as they will no more be able to purchase yarn and sell their handloom products at the building, he added.
