Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on August 22, 2009 felicitated 34 officers for their excellent work during the Kosi floods in 2008. He also honoured six policemen for their bravery and distributed prizes for the best tableau at the Independence Day function at Gandhi Maidan on August 15, 2009.Each official was given a cheque of Rs 51,000 and a citation while bravery award winners got a cash award of Rs 21,000.

Captain Piyush Raj got the Parade Command award.
STF received the best parade award in professional category.
NCC Air Force team was adjudged best in non professional category.
