All India Progressive Women's Association organised a rally in Patna on August 27, 2009 to voice their concern and draw the attention of the state government over atrocities against women.AIPWA activists from different districts of Bihar participated in the rally.
Citing a Bihar Police department data that stated icrease in rape cases to 1,555 in 2007 from 1084 in 2006 and dowry deaths to 1172 in 2007 from 1084 in 2006, AIPWA leaders said the present NDA government led by Nitish Kumar had failed to provide security and empowerment to women.
