CPI for joint Opposition candidate for President poll

Patna: Communist Party of India (CPI) national secretary K Narayana and State secretary Satya Narayan Singh said the Opposition parties will field a consensus candidate in the forthcoming Presidential election.

Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, they said talks had already held with Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) national president Nitish Kumar in this regard.

"CPI general secretary S Sudhakar Reddy has talked with Kumar recently", they said.

"It may possible Opposition parties including Congress, Left, JD(U) and other Samajwadi parties form Grand Alliance to stop BJP and RSS," they said.

Narayan said CPI would hold its national council meeting in Mumbai on May 13 and May 14 to discuss the possibility of forming a Grand Alliance against BJP in 2019 general election.
