Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary Criticises Congress Over Election Commission Claims

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister (CM) Samrat Choudhary on September 27, 2026 criticised the Congress over its allegations concerning the Election Commission and the revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.

Addressing a press conference in Patna, Choudhary said Congress had no basis to question the impartiality of the Election Commission. He cited instances involving former Chief Election Commissioners who later held political or constitutional positions, including M.S. Gill, T.N. Seshan and V.S. Ramadevi. 

Choudhary also rejected opposition allegations regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, describing the claims as politically motivated. He said the revision process identified voters who were deceased, had shifted residence or were registered at more than one location.
