Legislative Council polls record 92 per cent polling

Patna: Twenty four Bihar Legislative Council seats from local authorities went to polls today, amid tight security. The elections passed off peacefully recording high percentage of voting.

According to reports, about 92 per cent of voters eligible for today's franchise cast their votes.
As many as 1,38,437 elected representatives from local authorities -- village heads, gram panchayat members, panchayat samiti members and district board members, besides Lok Sabha MPs, Rajya Sabha members and legislators of the respective areas -- were eligible to cast their votes at 536 polling centres to decide the fate of 256 candidates in fray.
