Bihar CM Calls for Wider AI Adoption, Launches Project Monitoring Portal

 

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday (August 6, 2026) urged legislators to embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital technologies to improve governance, public service delivery and development planning. He was addressing an awareness programme on AI and the implementation of the Chief Minister's Constituency Development Scheme at the extended building of the Bihar Legislative Assembly.

The Chief Minister inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp and remotely launched the Project Monitoring System (PMS) web portal for projects under the Chief Minister's Constituency Development Scheme.

Choudhary said AI had become an essential tool for governance and should be widely used by ministers, MLAs and MLCs to strengthen public outreach and ensure effective implementation of development schemes. He noted that AI-based scrutiny of a Building Construction Department estimate had reduced project costs by five to seven per cent, allowing savings to be diverted to other development works.

He said the state government was already using AI in the Sahyog programme, the distribution of ration cards to one crore eligible beneficiaries and the ongoing digital survey of farmers. Bihar aims to link 60 lakh farmers with digital IDs, he added.

The Chief Minister also stressed the need for regular AI and digital skills training for legislators and their staff, saying Bihar must keep pace with technological advancements to accelerate development and strengthen democratic governance.
