Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary inaugurated the Bihar Museum Foundation Day 2026 celebrations by lighting a ceremonial lamp and unveiling two books published by the museum on August 7, 2026.
On the occasion, Choudhary remotely inaugurated a permanent art exhibition based on Mithila art at Patna Museum. He also opened a temporary exhibition at the Bihar Museum's multi-purpose auditorium showcasing works by renowned Indian artists and examples of folk art.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister welcomed Padma Shri award-winning artists and prominent practitioners of art from across the country. He said Bihar's rich cultural heritage, history, art and knowledge traditions had been a source of inspiration for the world.
Choudhary said the Bihar Museum was built through the efforts of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised its world-class architecture and collection during his visit.
Highlighting Bihar's linguistic and cultural diversity, he referred to Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, Vajjika and Angika as important elements of the state's heritage. He also described the revival of Nalanda University as a symbol of the renaissance of India's educational and cultural legacy.
The Chief Minister urged young people to embrace folk art, cultural heritage and Indian traditions. He suggested including international folk art in the 2027 museum foundation day celebrations to give Bihar's cultural heritage greater global recognition.
