Patna: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on August 17, 2026, urged educational institutions to strengthen trust in India’s electoral process and promote informed democratic participation among young citizens. Addressing a conference in Patna, he launched Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELC 2.0), digitally enabled platforms for year-round electoral education in schools, colleges and universities.
Kumar said elections are conducted transparently under the Constitution, laws and ECI instructions, with political parties and candidates overseeing various stages. ELC 2.0 will use the ECINet platform to promote awareness about voter registration, polling, counting and the Election Commission’s functioning.
The initiative carries the tagline “Learn Democracy. Lead Democracy.” During his Bihar visit, Kumar also met Booth Level Officers and visited Madhubani, Vaishali and Nalanda.
