Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on August 7, 2026 launched the Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan (Social Harmony Campaign) at Gyan Bhawan in Patna to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas.
Lighting a ceremonial lamp, Choudhary said Guru Ravidas’ teachings on social harmony, service and humanity would be taken to every village in Bihar. Soil from the saint’s birthplace will be distributed at district, block and panchayat levels and made available to temples, monasteries, religious institutions and families seeking it.
The Chief Minister said Guru Ravidas’ message of equality remained relevant and stressed the need to unite all sections of society rather than create divisions based on caste or community.
Highlighting education reforms, Choudhary said residential schools with hostels named after Mata Savitribai Phule were being established in every district to improve educational opportunities for girls from Dalit communities. Government schools will also provide live NEET and JEE coaching and online teacher support until 11 pm, with the facility targeted for launch from August 15.
He said Bihar had opened 211 degree colleges and was recruiting around 32,000 teachers under TRE-4. Plans are also underway to revive Vikramshila University in Bhagalpur.
Choudhary further announced proposed universities in Begusarai, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur. He reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development and the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”.
