Athawale Defends Reservation, Calls It a Constitutional Right

 

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on August 22, 2026, strongly defended India’s reservation system, saying it is a constitutionally protected right that cannot be abolished.

Speaking to reporters in Patna, Athawale said those calling for the removal of reservations were acting against the national interest. He stressed that the quota system is a constitutional provision and not something that can be withdrawn at the demand of any individual or group.
