Bihar celebrates birth anniversary of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan



Leaders of different political parties, social workers and people from different walks of life celebrated the 107th birth anniversary of Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan in Patna on October 11, 2009.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was the chief guest at a state function that was organised at Income Tax round about. His cabinet colleagues including Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi attended the function.
Earlier, Bihar Chief Minister garlanded the statue of JP at latter's residence.
Speaking on the occasion, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the socialist leader Jai Prakash Narayan had vehemently opposed Emergency and was successful in his efforts in restoring democracy through "total revolution".
He said the "total revolution" by JP was the second freedom struggle.
"All credit for restoring the civil rights, which were taken away during Emergency, goes to Jai Prakash Narayan,"he remarked.
