Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists staged strong demonstration in Patna on October 20, 2009 asking Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal to reconsider his move to change the existing eligibility criteria for the IIT joint entrance examination. They also burnt the effigy of Sibal.The Union HRD Minister Sibal had mooted a new proposal whereby a student would have to secure at least 80 per cent marks in the class 12 Board examinations instead of 60 per cent currently required to sit for the IIT-JEE.
