Noted journalist and columnist M J Akbar said Muslims should opt for a political party that believed in improving the lot of the Muslims.
Akbar was delivering a lecture on “Economic Growth and Underprivileged” oraganised under Shah Mushtaq Ahmad memorial lecture series in Patna on January 17, 2010. The function was organised by Sha-Shib Group of Institutions.

He said Muslims should opt for a party that believed in all-round development of the Muslims. “Do not vote for the party which harps on providing security to minority communities particularly the Muslims," he said.
NCP national general secretary Tariq Anwar also spoke on the occasion.
